The woman who left six dogs in a car to die just can’t seem to stay out of trouble, and it looks like her chances have run out.
Sara Mauter pleaded guilty to animal cruelty last year after abandoning the dogs inside an SUV near Lomas and San Mateo where they suffocated.
As part of a plea deal, she was sentenced to 18 months of probation. She blamed the incident on her being under the influence of drugs and insisted she loves dogs. However, prosecutors say Mauter has tested positive for drugs recently, which is a violation of her probation.
Thursday, they asked a judge to lock her up, and he did. Judge Michael Martinez sentenced her to 240 days in jail—the remainder of her probation.
