PHOENIX (AP) – A former Arizona woman who was imprisoned in the disappearance of her child has been released from jail after serving 20 days behind bars for a probation violation.

Elizabeth Joanne Johnson covered her face and had no comment for journalists who swarmed her as she left a Maricopa County jail Thursday morning and left in a taxi.

Johnson acknowledged in court that she traveled from her home in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, to Arizona in July to visit a friend she had met in prison.

Johnson was incarcerated for four and a half years for convictions in the disappearance of her 8-month-old son Gabriel, who has never been found. She served nearly three years in county jail as she awaited trial and a 19-month prison stint.
