The mother accused of driving drunk with her 2-year-old son in the car and killing two men appeared before a judge Monday.
Deputies say in March on I-25 near Algodones 21-year-old Mickey Chambellan and 28-year-old Lonny Escovedo pulled over onto the side of the road because one of them had a flat tire.
They say 31-year-old Christie Noriega hit and killed the two men.
Noriega’s 2-year-old son was in the car at the time.
Deputies say she smelled of liquor and had slurred speech.
Noriega appeared emotional in court Monday before she pleaded not guilty to charges including homicide by vehicle and child abuse.
Noriega is out of custody with GPS monitoring while she awaits trial.
