The woman accused of murdering her boyfriend’s elderly aunt has been released from jail.

Craig Smith and his girlfriend, Evonne Jaramillo, are charged with murdering 86-year-old Josephina Ortega inside her home.

She was found bound with zip ties and suffocated.

Police say evidence found at the scene linked the couple to the murder.

Despite Jaramillo’s failure to appear previously, Judge Charles Brown released her Monday.

The state has asked that she be held without bond until trial.

A judge will make that decision Thursday.
