Wagonbed Fire burns 445 acres in Gila National Forest

SILVER CITY, N.M. (KRQE) – Another wildfire has broken out in New Mexico, this time in the Gila National Forest. The Wagonbed Fire is burning on the Black Range Ranger District.

The Wagonbed Fire has burned about 445-acres as of Wednesday, July 3. Crews will continue to secure the perimeter and over the next three to four days, fire managers will release resources as they transition to a Type 3 organization.

Officials say lightning is to blame for the blaze. Smoke can be seen from Winston, Hermosa, and Truth or Consequences.
