NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The Bureau of Land Management has declared the Overflow Fire in Chavez County, east of Midway, 100% contained as of April 13, 2022. The fire started on April 7 as prescribed fire ignitions began around 11:35 a.m. Officials say the fire whirl, which is a dust devil-like phenomenon, changed the fire intensity along control lines and spread across the boundary. Later that day, it was declared as a wildfire.
