Firefighters in Sandoval County stopped a brush fire from spreading to nearby homes after it jumped containment lines.

Fire officials say the blaze broke out Tuesday afternoon in the community of Caรฑon in the Jemez Valley.

Crews say it spread to 10 acres and destroyed a shed before they were able to get it under control.

The public is asked to avoid the area of Highway 485 near mile marker 2 while crews continue to work this fire.

At last update, the fire is contained but was able to move up a canyon section.
