SANDOVAL COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The Cerro Pelado Fire is about 7 miles east of Jemez Springs, south of the Valles Caldera. The fire sparked Friday afternoon on April 22, 2022.
NM Fire released it’s final update on June 3, since then the Santa Fe National Forest released its BAER post-fire assessment of the Cerro Pelado burned area and affected watersheds. To view the full post fire assessment summary click here.

The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) has established a Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team to begin the assessment of National Forest System (NFS) lands impacted by the Cerro Pelado Fire, located south of the Nacimiento Mountains and west of the Bandelier National Monument areas.
