SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Cuervito Fire was burning in the Santa Fe National Forest and local resources will continue to monitor the fire as firefighters have mopped up its edges. The lightning-caused fire started on May 9 and was located about nine miles east of Pecos and burned about 1,621 acres as of June 3.
Forest officials reported that crews have demobilized and as the area dries out from recent moisture, unburned pockets of fuel will burn out and produce smoke.

Smoke may impact communities of Santa Fe, Pecos, Las Vegas, Rowe, Glorieta, La Cueva, North and South San Ysidro, Ilfeld, San Jose, San Juan, Tecolote, Soham, Ribera, Serafina, Bernal, Anton Chico, Mineral Hill, San Geronimo, and Pablo in addition to the I-25 from the Caja Fire which is likely to bee seen from Santa Fe to Los Alamos and along the I-25 corridor and the 599 Bypass.
