ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Fire Rescue crews say they suspect arson is the cause of a fire in the bosque Tuesday morning. According to AFR, crews were dispatched around 8:46 a.m. to reports of smoke in the bosque near Bridge Blvd. by the National Hispanic Cultural Center.

A total of 26 firefighters were on the scene to extinguish the 1/4 acre fire. “Wildland fires are extremely labor-intensive. Firefighters will be here, they’ve already been here for at least an hour and they’ll probably be there for at least that much longer making sure that it’s 100% not only contained but out and to prevent it from spreading,” said AFR Public Information Officer Tom Ruiz.

This is the latest in a string of at least 10 different fires that have recently happened in the bosque. No injuries have been reported.
