Albuquerque Fire Rescue offers assistance in California

Members of Albuquerque Fire Rescue are leaving for California to help battle wildfires that continue to devastate the Golden State.

Eighteen crew members will be part of a task force to fight the wildfires.

This is in addition to the five engines and six trucks being sent to California as well.

“Usually we don’t see ourselves going to California til September or October, this is a little early for us but because of the current conditions, they’re in a bad state out there,” said Lt. Brian Fox of Albuquerque Fire Rescue.

Officials say the crew could be out there for up to 21 days.

If conditions get worse or don’t improve, they may have to stay longer.
