Westside shelter to remain open year round

With help from Bernalillo County, Albuqueruqe’s Westside homeless shelter will stay open year round.

The shelter typically closed each year in March with the arrival of warmer weather which leaves 300 men, women and children without a place to go.

Thursday the county announced an allocation of $300,000 to help with the year-round operations.

Now that the shelter will be open year round, there’s a challenge of getting the homeless there.
