ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s time to cool it on the watering. That’s the message from the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority.
As temperatures drop, the Water Authority reminds customers that they should cut back on outdoor watering to two days a week.
They are asking customers to be extra vigilant about water conservation because usage this year has exceeded last year’s by about 1 billion gallons. They believe much of that is because of less rain fall.
Last year at this time, the county had gotten 7.8 inches. At this point this year we’re at 3.4 inches.
Watering restrictions do remain in place until October 31 which means no sprinkler irrigation between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
