A local youth camp got a big sprucing up thanks to volunteers.
The YMCA of Central New Mexico hosted 65 volunteers Thursday. They helped Camp Shaver prepare for the 2018 season.
They spent the day cleaning, painting, and upgrading trails to make sure the camp is ready for the kids.
“Camp Shaver offers so many opportunities for kids to learn, become adults, and become leaders in training and counselors in training,” Camp Shaver Board President Ken Romig said.
The children get to participate in a variety of activities all designed to build character.
The camp starts June 3 and runs through August 4.
