Virtual nursing course to serve rural areas

News

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – UNM is hoping a new online course will encourage nurses working in rural parts of the state.

The course allows nurses to share what they have learned over the years. It’s targeted at those working in rural areas who often feel isolated. The course serves as a virtual community where nurses can exchange ideas and collect tools for improving the lives of their patients.

The course opened earlier this month and already has 1,200 people registered from 115 countries.

Right now, rural areas of New Mexico remain under-served; there’s a big push to get more people interesting in getting nursing degrees.
