VIDEO: Stolen truck hits power pole, causing grass fire and outages along I-25 in Pueblo

Police are looking for the person who drove a stolen truck off Interstate 25 Monday, knocking a power pole across a road and causing a grass fire and power outage.

Police said it happened around 4:40 p.m. on northbound Interstate 25 in central Pueblo. The truck went off the east side of the interstate and over the berm, where it got caught in a fence. When the driver started driving in circles to dislodge the fence, he hit a power pole, knocking it over.

Police said one end of the broken electrical line sparked a grass fire. The other end fell onto the interstate, causing a traffic hazard. The breakage caused power outages on the other side of the interstate, according to police.

A witness recorded the incident on video, which is available above.

Police said the truck was stolen from a local repair shop. It is described as a white 2001 Chevrolet Silverado with Colorado license plate number 686 SUQ. It has damage to its tailgate.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (7867).
