ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A good deed in a local restaurant was caught on camera.
“I had a feeling that something was going to happen,” Nate Bywater said before he pulled out his cell phone to record what came next.
Bywater was sitting at the Chipotle on Alameda near Coors when a man at the counter caught his attention.
“The guy came in, he leaned over to the cashier and I guess he was asking for some help. He was hungry,” Bywater said. “Without missing a beat, the manager says, ‘Yeah, we can help you. Absolutely.’”
The man put some change in the tip jar in exchange for a meal.
Bywater posted the video on Facebook, where it’s been viewed more than 3,400 times.
That is how Vincent Lovato, the manager seen in the video, discovered someone had been recording.
“I was very, very surprised,” he said. “At first I didn’t even know that there was a video. That was just something that, just as a good person, I feel like everybody should be doing.”
He said all the positive feedback online has been humbling and hopefully it sends a clear message.
“I want everybody to know that you can have an impact on somebody’s life, even if it’s just that little,” Lovato said.
“I thought that was really neat and honorable of him to do,” Bywater said. “That could have been my father for all he knows. That could have been a veteran, and I think it was nice that he helped him out like that.”
It is one good deed, re-played thousands of times that has touched so many.
