Victims of Western Union scam could qualify for refund

If you lost money in a Western Union transfer, you could get a refund.

Attorney General Hector Balderas says thousands of New Mexicans were affected by a scam between 2004 and 2017, in which scammers used Western Union to get victims to transfer them money.

Balderas says the company had an obligation to protect customers and their information.

If you were one of them, you could get part of the state’s $586 million settlement.

All claims must be filed before May 31.
