US Senators from New Mexico push for bill to protect young immigrants

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Both New Mexico U.S. Senators introduced a bill aimed at protecting thousands of young immigrants who arrived in the country as children.

Democrats Martin Heinrich and Tom Udall are pushing the “Project Dreamer Confidentiality Act.” The bill safeguards the addresses and phone numbers of the young immigrants known as “dreamers” from border agents.

Right now, federal law gives “dreamers” a path toward legal status if they attend college or serve in the military.
