UNMPD searching for suspect in attempted sexual assault


ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – University of New Mexico Police are searching for a man who tried to assaulted a female student at Zimmerman Library. Police say it happened at about 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10th.

The victim told police, a man who was armed with a pocket knife tried to unbutton the her jeans. She was able to escape and the suspect fled on foot. The woman reported the incident to police the following day.

Last week a student told police she was walking near the biology building when a man on a yellow Yamaha motorcycle slapped her behind. When police arrived, he was speeding off. They tried to stop him, but couldn’t. The man in the motorcycle attack was wearing a red helmet.

The incident is under investigation. At this time police are searching for a white male who is believed to five-foot-six. He was wearing a black hoodie and jeans. Police are asking anyone with information to call the tip line or contact police directly at 277-2241.
