UNM welcomes fresh faces and returning students

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It’s a big week at the University of New Mexico with school starting back up for the 2016 Fall semester, and the UNM President has big plans for the new semester.

President Robert Frank stopped by the KRQE This Morning show to discuss some of the big topics surrounding the beginning of the school year. Watch above.

From new freshman introductions to Campus Communities Day, the campus will be busy with events for students to take part in.

The campus will be introducing itself to 3,400 new freshman this semester and President Frank is happy with this number.

To welcome not only the new, but also the returning students, the long standing tradition of Welcome Back days will be in full affect Wednesday, August 24 at 10 a.m. at the Duck Pond. There will be free Green Chile Stew, and live music starting at noon. The Student Union Building Theater will also be hosting a free movie showing of Captain America: Civil War from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

With all the new faces, safety is an important issue. President Robert Frank is making the week of September 5 “Safety Week.”
