ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico’s tutoring program is getting national recognition for its high standards.
The Center for Academic Program Support (CAPS) has been named a Center of Excellence by the National College Learning Center Association.
It is a certification awarded to only a handful of universities, recognizing approaches that make a real difference in student success.
Center leaders say it is important to support all undergraduates, not just those having trouble with academics.
“We have students who are struggling, and we also have students who are ‘A’ students who want to continue being excellent,” said Aeron Haynie of the UNM Center for Teaching and Learning.
CAPS offers tutoring in STEM subjects, writing and language, both in person and online.
