ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico’s School of Medicine has developed a new app to help patients manage alcohol use.

As part of the personal alcohol management system or “PALMS” app, patients fill out a questionnaire about their drinking habits then the app helps gauge patient’s alcohol use before a doctor’s appointment.

It will also give patients advice on safe drinking and compare their alcohol use with the national average.

The app is currently being tested at UNM’s Sandoval Regional Medical Center and could go out to hundreds of other hospitals around the country.
