There are still a lot of questions about the University of New Mexico’s troubled athletic department.
Thursday, regents are meeting to get updates about ongoing audits.
UNM regents went into a closed session Thursday, where they were likely to discuss their audit with the athletic department.
An audit found widespread misuse of public money including hundreds of questionable or poorly documented credit card purchases and cash advances.
That audit was launched after a News 13 Larry Barker investigation which exposed among other things donor perks like charter flights and football season tickets to 23 people who never actually donated money to the school. Then there was the Scotland golf trip Larry Barker exposed where family and staffers got a free ride.
UNM also says sports teams will have to be cut to deal with the multimillion-dollar deficit they’re now facing.
