UNM gets $20 million grant for new power grid

UNM has received a five-year grant from the National Science Foundation to better incorporate energy sources like wind and power.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that the $20 million grant will fund a new S.M.A.R.T. Grid Center at the University.

UNM says the project includes researchers from NMSU, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, Santa Fe Community College and the state’s two national laboratories.

It will also include private sector partnerships.
