ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Following an investigation into allegations of hazing and alcohol violations, one University of New Mexico fraternity is closing its doors.
UNM started investigating three fraternities including Phi Gamma Delta, also known as FIJI, but would not go into details about the allegations.
As a result, the school placed social restrictions on all of its fraternities and sororities. Now, FIJI alumni have voted to close the New Mexico chapter, saying the members’ actions do not represent the fraternity’s standards and values.
The group plans on working with UNM for a possible return to campus in the future.
