ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico has recently released an application for smart devices that will help to keep students safe while on campus.
The app, LoboGuardian, makes for easy emergency communication with only a click of a button. This app will allow for students to make a direct emergency call to the UNM Police Department that will automatically deliver your Smart911 profile to a police response team.
Also, the LoboGuardian has a safety timer and status feature. This allows the student to designate “guardians.” Students with this app can alert their “guardian” of when they are leaving a certain location and range about how long it should take them to get to their next destination. During the timer session, guardians can then check the status and location. They will also be notified of your phones last location.
Reporting a tip to the UNM Police Department is made easy when using this app. Those who have an issue to report can anonymously send a tip to the UNM Police Department.
The LoboGuardian has been in effect for the past two weeks.
