UNM Regents have passed a more than $3 billion budget for next year.
About $2.2 billion will go toward the UNM Health Sciences Center. The main campus is receiving $884 million. A chuck of that money will go toward instruction and general expenses.
Meanwhile, the UNM Athletics Department will be getting around $32 million. Even though the school cut men’s soccer, skiing, and women’s beach volleyball, the department was expecting more than $1 million shortfall.
Ultimately, the regents voted to funnel $1.2 million from the main campus budget to athletics for a debt service payment on The Pit’s renovation project. Two regents voted against the idea, saying it just kicks the can down the road again.
