UNM bans 2 Albuquerque pastors from campus

News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Two pastors connected to the University of New Mexico have been banned from campus.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, pastors Jim Cooper and Kirk Walker of New Covenant Christian Church allegedly entered dorms and other buildings without permission and were aggressive in their recruitment efforts. They’re also accused of holding unauthorized services in campus buildings.

In letters obtained by the Journal, UNM notified the pastors that their presence on campus had a negative impact on former church members who are students.

The letter also said UNM had evidence the two pastors encouraged group members to violate campus policies.
