ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) –The New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department has decided it would streamline support services offered to daycare and early childhood education centers in the state. Now it’s awarding the University of New Mexico money to take on the task.
In June, CYFD ended contracts with four agencies that provided training, technical assistance and consultations.
Now the state agency has awarded UNM a $5.5 million contract to provide those services.
The deal with UNM will restore most of the 89 jobs lost in June when the contracts expired.
The service will go into effect in January.
