U.S. Energy Dept. announces WIPP ventilation project

News

The U.S. Energy Department says WIPP is building six, 20-foot-tall fans to help ventilate the underground nuclear waste repository.

The change is reportedly prompted by leaked radiation from a drum of waste sent from LANL.

The leak forced the plant to close for three years.

The ventilation system is set to be done by 2021.
