The Albuquerque BioPark welcomed their two newest residents Friday, a pair of baby hyenas.
They are named havoc and ruckus were born to first-time parents Smilla and Dubu early last month.
Zookeepers say it was a grueling labor.
When Smilla didn’t give birth after 11 hours, staff called in zoo vets at 2:30 a.m. to perform a c-section, which was a success.
Mom and the cubs are all doing well and the little ones are starting to explore their new habitat.
Apparently its hard to tell the difference between male and female hyenas, so the staff will perform a genetic test in the coming weeks to determine their genders.
