ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – For Tim Harris of Albuquerque, success is second nature these days. With the increasing popularity of his restaurant, Tim’s Place, and his inspiration to people with intellectual disabilities, his new foundation is also drawing worldwide interest.
Tim’s Big Heart Foundation was created in 2014 as a non-profit organization designed to help people with intellectual disabilities achieve fulfilling lives via entrepreneurship and inclusion in their communities.
“I love being the inspiration to a lot of other people, it’s awesome,” says Tim Harris about the work being done with Tim’s Big Heart Foundation.
According to Sabrina Torreblanca, manager of Tim’s Big Heart Foundation, thousands of email’s have been coming in to Tim and reaching out to his foundation.
“His following is impressive,” adds Torreblanca. “If you look at, the web stats show that he gets visitors from 110 different countries on a weekly basis.”
Tim’s never ending outreach to families and others is infectious. It’s so tremendous that he has inspired other restaurants like Which Wich to lend their financial support to his foundation.
“We were all so moved by his personal story of strength and overcoming any obstacle,” says Matt Kuchar, local Which Wich franchise owner. “His personal obstacles and we just felt like he embodied and represented the culture and the vibe of what Which Wich is about.”
Altogether, the Which Wich franchise along with its founder, Jeff Sinelli, collected over $12,000 to donate to Tim’s Big Heart Foundation. The check will be presented to Tim on Friday. Both Tim and the representatives from Which Wich say this is only the beginning.
“As a local franchisee, I want to figure out a way we can partner with him and participate,” adds Kuchar. “Both monetarily and in the service aspect too, do whatever he’s doing. He’s that kind of a inspiring individual and I know that my staff at both of my restaurants want to be more involved with him.”
