Three new cheetahs arrive at ABQ BioPark from Texas

Three young cheetahs have arrived from Texas.

The cheetahs, Garbanzo, Pinto and Borracho, who are brothers, were born last year at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.

The cheetah exhibit at the BioPark had to be modified in order to accommodate the young, feisty felines.

Before they left Texas, the big cats were given a pre-departure exam where a small lump was found and removed from Garbanzo’s gums.

Although zoo officials believe it looked benign, cancerous cells were found within the mass.

ABQ BioPark and Fossil Rim Wildlife Officials will work together to ensure the animal receives a follow-up procedure in hopes of curing the cancer.
