Thieves hit Albuquerque medical marijuana store, get away with product

Early Wednesday morning, a group of thieves used a pickaxe to break into a medical marijuana shop in the metro.

“Thieves gained entry to a business next door, stole tools from a truck and then got onto our roof and dug a hole through our roof,” said David White, the president of the board for Organtica.

White says they realized it as soon as they arrived at work Wednesday morning. He says the thieves also broke through an interior wall, gaining access to their ‘Pharmacy’ filled with dozens of varieties of medical marijuana.

“It’s put in safes at night. The pharmacy was breached and they again broke through a wall to get into that. It was [mostly] display product that was taken that was inside our safe, pharmacy area,” said White.

White says they’re still evaluating how much marijuana thieves got away with. White says they did cause significant damage to the wall, roof and glass display cases.

APD is working on gathering surveillance video of the incident. If you have any information about the theft, call Crime Stoppers at 242-STOP.
