Thief accused of targetting elderly now behind bars

News

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man, who police say preyed on elderly women, won’t be getting out of jail anytime soon.

Disturbing video of one robbery shows Patricio Ruiz grab an 81-year-old woman’s purse and then shove her to the ground. Investigators say a second person, Delilah Anaya, was the getaway driver in the incident.

Patricio Ruiz and Delilah Anaya were arrested over the weekend and are accused of five similar robberies in all.

The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office says a judge Tuesday ordered Ruiz to stay behind bars on a no-bond hold and is set to go on trial Friday for other armed robbery charges.

As for Anaya, she posted bond Monday and has been released from jail.
