RUIDOSO, N.M. (KRQE) – All 12 inmates from the Lincoln Pines Youth Center near Ruidoso have been relocated. KRQE News 13 wanted to know more about this investigation, but kept getting the same answer from CYFD Secretary Monique Jacobson.
“Again, all of the specifics with regards to this particular incident are allegations are blocked from confidentiality perspective,” said Jacobson.
It has been confirmed that there are allegations that a behavioral health therapist at the detention center had sexual relations with one of the boys, which would be considered rape. That therapist left Lincoln Pines just one day after the state police started the investigation. Both the superintendent and the program manager of the facility are currently on paid suspension.
Investigators are now looking to see if there may be other instances of sexual assault at the juvenile facility.
“As we look at this, we are not looking at it just as one incident but looking at it to make sure we have all the stopgaps in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our kids,” said Jacobson.
The state’s juvenile justice services director has resigned, but CYFD won’t say if it has any connection to this investigation.
