LAS CRUCES (KRQE) – After 34 years, The Whole Enchilada Fiesta in Las Cruces is coming to an end.

The fiesta, which creates the world’s largest enchilada every September, has received recognition as one of the top fiestas in the country.

According to the Las Cruces Sun-News, the event’s board of directors has decided to retire the fiesta.

The board says the decision is partially because of creator Robert Estrada’s announcement in February that he’ll be hanging up his apron.
