Tesla backed bill advances to next committee

A state Senate bill that would allow Tesla to open stores and service centers in New Mexico is advancing to another Senate committee.

The bill would amend state law to let vehicle manufacturers like Tesla open up in the state.

It would only apply to companies who do not have a franchised dealership in New Mexico and the manufacturer could only sell its vehicles.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, in September, Tesla officials told lawmakers the current rules hurt Tesla car owners.
