Teachers burn state evaluations to send message

News

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Teachers upset with controversial state evaluations burned them Wednesday night outside of the Albuquerque School Board meeting.

About three-dozen teachers spoke then lit their evaluations on fire. The state’s teacher evaluation system went into effect last school year, but many teachers don’t like it. They say it relies too heavily on test scores.

The state maintains their stance that evaluations hold teachers accountable.
