Suspect pleads guilty in Albuquerque woman’s shooting death

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the men who shot and killed an Albuquerque woman and her friend in Arizona has pleaded guilty.

Andrew Lauro pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of first degree murder and burglary in last year’s deaths of 70-year-old Barbara Leslie and 75-year-old Ruth Schwed, a longtime Albuquerque teacher who was visiting.

Leslie’s SUV was missing from the home and it was later found at a Phoenix apartment complex.

A judge will sentence Lauro next month. The second suspect, Montez Wright III, is still awaiting trial.
