Tuesday, the attorney for a 19-year-old charged with murder after a road rage shooting argued it wasn’t her fault.
Deputies say 16-year-old Efrain Arzate Jr. was killed in the South Valley last month.
They say Arzate was shot in the head while sitting in the backseat as his brother drove.
Investigators say the suspects, 19-year-old Alexis Rogers and 16-year-old Damian Luna, yelled at the boys at a stoplight for cutting them off.
Luna then shot at their car.
In court, Rogers’ attorney blamed the boy’s death on Luna.
“I think it’s an unfortunate association with an unfortunate event, that by all accounts was committed by someone else,” Rogers’ attorney said.
Investigators say Rogers was the only adult in the car and contributed to Arzate’s death by following the victim’s car and allowing Luna to shoot at them.
