Study: UNM adds $3 billion in economic output to state’s economy

A new study found the University of New Mexico adds billions to the state’s economy each year.

The “Statewide Economic Impact of UNM” looked at four categories of spending by studying data from the main campuses produce roughly 25,000 jobs and $3.1 billion in economic output.

President Garnett Stokes says that’s not all the university provides.

Researchers say there were aspects of the university’s contribution to society that could not be measured in dollars.
