ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Nearly every woman dreams about walking down the aisle and saying ‘I do’, but before the wedding bells ring, there is a lot of planning to get done. According to according to a new Wallet Hub study, Albuquerque is a good and affordable place to get married.
Bride Marie Schimoler is getting married in January 2017 and she’s following a strict list to make sure her wedding day is perfect. “We have got the venue booked. The dress, obviously, got that locked up,” said Schimoler.
According to the Wallet Hub study that ranks the best and worst places to get married, Albuquerque fares pretty well.
The Duke City ranks number 26 out of a total of 150 cities the study analyzed.
“That’s awesome! Good to know if you are planning a wedding here,” Schimoler said.
The study compares cost, activties and attractions as well as the number of churches, venues and birdal boutiques the city has to offer.
“I just love working with my brides,” said Bridal Elegance by Darlene Owner Darlene Archibeque.
Archibeque has been working with New Mexico brides for more than 30 years. She said she is not surprised that Albuquerque ranked so high.
“These brides that are getting married outdoors or at sunset in front of the Sandia mountains, you can’t get a perfect shot anywhere else,” Archibeque said.
Albuquerque ranks in the top 30 for travel popularity. Its overall weather rank is 57.
The city came in at the 19th most affordable place to exchange vows. It costs about $24,000 to get married in Albuquerque.
Albuquerque doesn’t fare so well when it comes to the number of party equipment rentals or musicians available however. Orlando, Florida took the top prize in the study. Moreno Valley, California came in as the worst city to get married in.
