A hunter, missing since November has been found dead in the Pecos River.

New Mexico State Police say the body of 50-year-old Stanley Vigil was found Saturday afternoon by an off-duty officer who was fishing near the village of San Jose in San Miguel County.

Darcy Vigil says her brother Stanley went missing while on a hunting trip with family near Barrillas Peak in November.

Stanley was last seen a day after he went missing on surveillance cameras outside a ranch close to where he disappeared in the snow and fog.

There was also a tip that he knocked on a door near San Juan for help but was turned away.

Darcy Vigil says police told her Stanley had drowned and showed signs of head trauma and broken ribs.

Police say they are still investigating.
