Deputies say a man running from them wouldn’t give up, even after they shot him.

The Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was checking on a suspicious car in Dixon, Thursday morning when the driver hit his patrol car and took off.

Deputies chased him to Chimayo, after spike strips didn’t stop him.

The driver then headed to Espanola, where they say he sped through a yard almost hitting someone.

Deputies had him blocked in, but say he was revving his engine. A deputy fired one shot, hitting him in the thigh.

The man still tried taking off on foot, but deputies and State Police caught him and arrested him.

Police have not said why he was running.
