ALBUQUERQUE (AP) – The state is investigating claims that the vice president of the Albuquerque Public School Board used school money for a cleaning job at her home.
The Public Education Department is investigating claims that Dr. Analee Maestas may have doctored a receipt to cover up the carpet cleaning. Maestas is Executive Director of La Promesa Early Learning Center, a state charter school.
Maestas on Friday denied any wrongdoing.
The PED released a receipt Maestas submitted when requesting reimbursement for $342 from the state. The name and address of the school appear to be written over Meastas’s name and address.
Maestas says the invoice is incorrect and the carpets were cleaned at her charter school.
The carpet company says the PED invoice contains different information that the copy in the school’s files.
