State Auditor looking into Jal’s water billing process

News

JAL, N.M. (KRQE) – State Auditor Tim Keller is looking into how a southeastern New Mexico city is billing residents for water.

The special audit was initiated in Jal after some reports of possible favoritism and inaccuracy in water billing. The special audit is expected to continue through the spring.

The auditor recently completed similar investigations in Moriarity and Alamogordo, finding some people were given breaks because of who they knew.
