State audit: $1M missing from federally funded broadband company

News

A state audit revealed more than $1 million worth of missing funds from a local broadband company.

Those in charge of the federally funded REDINet Project providing broadband services to northern New Mexico, cannot account for $1 million in spending.

Two-hundred thousand dollars worth of fiber optic cable is also unaccounted for.

The North Central New Mexico Economic Development District was unable to provide documentation for the missing materials.

Contractors on the project will be subpoenaed.
