Southwest Arts Group opens new classes

News

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Southwest Arts Group establishes a Resident Arts Program at the African American Performing Arts Center and Exhibition Hall in Albuquerque. Working in conjunction with the African American Performing Arts Center Foundation Board of Directors and staff members, the Southwest Arts Group has begun their residency to develop the program.

The program in its inaugural year will encourage development of young and emerging vocal artists who have training in the fine and performing arts, particularly in the singing of classical and musical theater forms. The artists will have performing opportunities designed to gain experience, display their talent and develop their skills in creative expression.

The program will have master teachers who will be guest teachers for 1 to 2 master classes each year. The teachers will come from faculty of world-renowned conservatories of music, conductors in the field of music, directors of music, and, in-demand, accomplished professionals in the field of music.
